The Climate Crisis – EP Equipment

Without a doubt, the climate problem is really one of the most important world issues, especially for Latin America. As the State of the climate in Latin America and the Caribbean report makes clear, climate change is affecting livelihoods and increasing disaster risk in Latin America and the Caribbean. For example, in recent years, 28,000 fires were recorded in the Amazon rainforest up to August of this year, marking a new record for three consecutive years. In 2020, extreme hydrometeorological events were recorded in Central America, such as hurricanes “Eta” and “Iota” and climate change has become a crisis for human conditions to survive.

In order to build a community with a shared future for humanity, the Paris Agreement was signed by 178 countries at the COP21 held in 2015, which is the largest agreement in the face of the climate crisis. And at the end of 2021 at COP26, a consensus was reached on the implementation rules of the Paris Agreement, and more than 70 countries made their commitments in the field of carbon emission reduction

Carbon reduction target commitments/policies

Latin American countries have always been too important a part of climate governance. Major countries have also pledged to neutralize carbon emissions.

*Mexico

will reduce carbon emissions by 22% and will reduce black carbon emissions by 51% by 2030. Lithium battery electric vehicles imported into Mexico were duty-free, as confirmed by the Ministry of the Economy. Among the proposals of the unions as a complement to encourage the EV market is the implementation of a 0% VAT rate and the 100% income deduction of the investment made for the acquisition of an EV.

*Colombia

will reduce carbon emissions by 51% by 2030 and will reduce black carbon emissions by 40% compared to 2014. Decree No. 2051 of 2019 stipulates that the tariff rate for imported new energy electric vehicles will be reduced to 0% and import quota restrictions will be lifted. Valdivieso, Vice Minister of Commerce and Industry of Colombia, said that this measure is in line with the national interests of Colombia, promotes the replacement of vehicles, reduces emissions of carbon dioxide and particulate matter, and seriously implements the Paris Agreement

*Brazil

37% reduction by 2025 and 40% reduction by 2030 from 2005 levels. The Brazilian Ministry of Commerce approved Regulation No. 97, which will reduce the tax rate on lithium battery products to 0% at as of 2016.

Argentina:

will reduce carbon emissions by 27.7% until 2030. The Argentine government resumes preferential tariffs to import new energy vehicles, for example lithium batteries. Decree 331 of May 2017 allows automakers to pay only a 2% tariff to import lithium battery electric vehicles.

Advantages of EP lithium electric storage equipment in reducing carbon emissions

Latin American countries have always been an important part of global climate governance. As we all know, diesel-powered internal combustion handling equipment has always been popular in the Latin American market, and the biggest disadvantage of such equipment is the problem of exhaust emissions, which will increase carbon emissions and cause global warming.  There is no doubt that it goes against the climate change management strategy.

According to the data from the National Statistics Office, when we consume 1L of diesel, the carbon emission is 0.717 kg, but if we use 1kwh of electricity, the carbon emission is only 0.272 kg, which is 1/3 of the above . In order to fulfill the carbon neutrality commitment of the Paris Agreement and pursue the sustainable development of human society, it is imperative to increase political support and preferential treatment for lithium battery products. Latin American countries have committed to achieving carbon neutrality goals by 2050 and have formulated the corresponding policies and regulations. Among them, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and Argentina are the most representative.Development of E-commercial and intelligent logistics in Latin America.

The development of E-commercial and logistics

In Latin America, the E-commerce and logistics industries have developed rapidly in recent years. E-commerce sales in Latin America increased significantly in 2020, reaching $849.5 million, an increase of 19.4% over 2019. By 2022, this figure is expected to exceed $100 billion. Analysts believe that online sales will become one of the main forms of retail in Latin America. In the future, at least 25% of retail orders in the countries of the region will be completed online. The popularity of the e-commerce industry has undoubtedly fueled the development of the logistics industry. According to the LPI range initiated by the World Bank, Chile/Mexico/Colombia/Argentina is consistently above the average level.

The development of E-commercial and logistics

Undoubtedly, the development of E-commercial promotes the development of the logistics industry. In some network festivals in Latin America, such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Good End, etc., the purchase orders of the network are greatly increased, and the demands for picking up the goods are also increased. At this time, labor and material conflicts appear. However, warehouse lithium electrical equipment perfectly solves this conflict. Manufacturers do not need to worry about renting more than about ten units of IC equipment as it supports to increase order picking efficiency. When the operators operate the EP lithium electric equipment, it only needs to be charged in the siesta, in the afternoon it can work perfectly, which is very suitable for the working conditions with multiple shifts and limited times. In addition, EP’s warehouse electrical equipment operations are more flexible, helping to increase efficiency. With these advantages, EP’s lithium electric equipment has become a great success in the Latin American market, such as ES16-RS electric stacker, EPL154, RPL201(H) pallet truck, EFL252/302/352 forklift.
